Microsoft has quietly raised prices across its Surface lineup, joining a recent trend of cost increases for its hardware. The company bumped up prices by roughly 20% for most existing Surface Laptop and Surface Pro models, along with their power accessories.
The base models took the biggest hit. Both the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop and 13-inch Surface Pro now start at $1,200—a $200 jump from their previous $1,000 price tags. Interestingly, Microsoft’s newest Surface devices launched this week kept their original pricing, though their already premium costs now seem slightly more justified. The 15-inch Surface Laptop remains unchanged at $1,300.
Even basic accessories weren’t spared. The 65W power supply climbed from $90 to $120, while the higher-capacity 127W version rose from $125 to $175.
For shoppers hoping to avoid the increases, there might still be time. Major retailers like Best Buy and Amazon currently still list the older prices, making them worth checking before the hikes take effect everywhere.
This follows Microsoft’s recent decision to increase Xbox console prices, with the Xbox Series X going up by $80 and the Xbox Series S by $100. While the company hasn’t officially linked these changes to tariffs, the timing raises questions—especially when pressed about the notably high starting prices of its newest Surface devices, Microsoft declined to comment either way.
