
Qualcomm is reportedly developing a new smartwatch chipset, codenamed Aspen and carrying the model number SW6100. Based on Qualcomm’s naming conventions, this suggests the chip will launch as the Snapdragon Wear W6, succeeding the current W5 (model number SW5100).
Unlike previous wearable chipsets, which were adapted from existing Qualcomm designs, the W6 is said to be built from the ground up specifically for wearables. It will reportedly feature a Cortex-A78 performance core paired with four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, along with support for LPDDR5X RAM. TSMC is expected to manufacture the chip.
